Chris Hutchinson: Head of Primary

Mr Hutchinson has a B.A in Geography and completed his Certificate of Education in PE ( subsid. geography) from Oxford University. His teaching background is in UK preparatory schools. He moved to Warsaw in 2001. This is Mr Hutchinson's 6th year at The British School and has been teaching for almost 30 years.

Christopher Chand: Form Teacher Year 2
|
|
|

Mr Chand has a MA in education specialising in culture, language and identity. He has most recently taught in a Catholic school in London, where his family live. Before teaching he had a career in acting. His interests include travelling, mixing music, getting up close to wildlife which he did on safari in the Serengeti. He enjoys his job and has high expectations. This is his second year in TBS.

Leah Cray: Form Teacher Year 2

|

Leah Cray completed her Bachelor of Education (Hons) at the University of Ballarat in her home country of Australia. Since graduating, Leah has worked in schools in Australia, Japan, Dubai and most recently TBS's sister Nord Anglia School in Shanghai. This is her second year at TBS and she has recently married fellow teacher Austen.

Agnieszka Langley: Form Teacher Year 2
|
|
|
Ms Langely is a graduate from Łódż University where she studied Linguistics and Teaching Methods. Ms Langely moved to London and studied at Westminster College for a British Teaching certificate. She taught for 8 years in London in two different schools before moving to Warsaw. Ms Langely has been teaching at TBS for 14 years.

David Cowper: Form Teacher Year 3
|

|
David Cowper is from England and completed a Bachelor of Education Degree (Hons) in Primary Education at Liverpool John Moores University. He worked for 2 years in Manchester teaching Year 4 before moving to Poland in 1998. Mr Cowper spent four years at the British International School in Krakow before joining The British School, Warsaw in September 2002.

Austen Cray: Form Teacher Year 3
|

|

Austen Cray graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education at the University of Queensland, Australia. He began his career teaching working in remote Aboriginal communities in central Australia, and has since taught in British schools in Dubai, Shanghai and most recently in Warsaw.

Wendy Jaquiery: Form Teacher Year 3
|

|

Wendy Jaquiery has attended Canterbury University and Christchurch Teacher?s College in New Zealand where she gained an Advanced Teacher?s Diploma. She has taught at schools in New Zealand, England and Poland. One of the highlights of her teaching career was to be awarded a Commonwealth Teachers Exchange at Morton Comprehensive School in Carlisle. When not teaching her passions include; travelling - have visited 84 countries on 6 continents, sports - squash, tennis, skiing, diving, hobbies - chess, bridge and reading. Wendy is aiming to keep young, fit and motivate enthusiastic learners.

Harriet Peacock: Form Teacher Year 3
|

|

Ms Peacock graduated with B.A.(hons) in European Studies with Norwegian language from University of East Anglia. She worked in tourism and taught English in language schools for many years and then changed career by taking a PGCE (primary) at Brunel University, London in 1992. Ms Peacock has worked in the International School of London and British International School Bratislava, Slovakia. This is her third year at TBS.

Matthew Knights: Form Teacher Year 4
|
|
|

Matthew Knights completed his PGCE in Primary Teaching with Science as a semi-specialism at the University of Exeter in the UK. Matthew has taught in schools in Hokkaido (Japan) and Norfolk (UK), and this is his third year at TBS. Prior to his teaching career, Matthew worked in IT in Slough (UK), and also helped to sequence the mitochondrial DNA of the emu while on a university exchange year in Lund (Sweden). Matthew is the Science Coordinator for KS2.

Tom Martin: Form Teacher Year 4

Tom Martin has an MA in teaching English as a Foreign Language to primary school children and a PGCE in Primary Education. Mr Martin has taught English as a foreign language in Poland, Sweden, Thailand and England and has worked as a primary school teacher in England and Poland. He joined the British School, Warsaw in 2006. He is married with two children and his interests include languages, travel and playing the drums.

Nicholas Pascalides: Form Teacher Year 4

Nicholas Pascalides BMus (Hons) London, PGCE Canterbury. He is a British citizen and has worked in Primary schools in England for 4 years before joining The British School, Warsaw in 2004. He is an enthusiatic and creative teacher with high expectations from the children. Mr Pascalides is a keen cellist with a strong interest in languages and martial arts.

Georgina Dobson: Form Teacher Year 5

This is Georgina Dobson's third year at TBS and this year she has the responsibility of Key Stage 2 Coordinator. Georgina is from New Zealand and gained a B. Education and Diploma Teaching from
Waikato
University in
New Zealand. She has 11 years of EAL and mainstream teaching experience in
New Zealand, the UK and internationally.
Georgina is a huge rugby fan and also enjoys travel and movies.

Emily Adams: Form Teacher Year 6

Emily Adams studied Law at Manchester University and the College of Law in York. She has taught in Torun in Poland for two years, before moving to Frankfurt, Germany. Ms Adams spent three years in England before moving back to Poland in 2006, this is her fourth year at TBS. Ms Adams is a Year 6 form teacher.

Przemyslaw Budzinski: Form Teacher Year 6
|
|
|

Mr Budziński completed his BA in TEFL at the Teacher Training College in Legnica, and later gained an MA in Applied Linguistics at the Wrocław University (Poland). He taught English as a foreign language in Polish secondary schools, FE colleges and a university. Mr Budziński moved to the UK where he obtained the British QTS from Bath Spa University, and worked in junior state and independent schools in London and the South West of England. He interests include music, history, literature, IT and sport. This is his second year at TBS.

Susan Buttimer: Music
|
|
|
Suzanne Buttimer graduated from University College Cork with a BMus. However, she had also previously studied at Trinity College Dublin and University of Ulster, Jordanstown where she obtained her ATCL and CFSM accordingly. She has a keen interest in music therapy and has participated in SHARE music (Northern Ireland)- residential courses for young disabled or visually impaired people. She moved from Ireland to Poland four years ago, with her husband and three children.

Miss Donnellan, Deputy Head and IB Coordinator, studied in University College, Galway. She spent two years working in The Republic of the Seychelles and three years in the UK. This wil be Miss Donnellan's 16th year at the school!

Ms Armitage has a PGCE in ICT and a degree in Business Information Technology. She recently taught in Bangkok for three years and previous to that for five years in the UK. Her interests include photography (particularly iconography) and travel.

School in Brackley, where he remained for 3 years before relocating to
Warsaw. Richard is now a teacher of English in what is his fourth year at TBS.

Hélene Chareix studied French linguistic and has a Master degree in Didactic of French as a Foreign Language from the University of Toulouse (France). She taught French in China, France and Poland, but also participated to several activities related with French for Foreigners (linguistic cooperation, teachers' trainings, seminaries etc) in Sweden, France or Latvia. This will be her second year at TBS.

Anthony Crewdson: Geography

Anthony Crewdson hails from Leeds, Yorkshire. He graduated from Worcester University with a BA (Hons) degree in Human Geography, Urban Studies and Economics and completed his PGCE in Geography at Swansea University. He later received a MRes in Environment and Development Studies at Lancaster University in 2003. Mr Crewdson taught Geography at three state schools in Worcestershire, England before moving to TBS in 2005. He is an avid Leeds United supporter, along with Mr Deahan and Mr Begent!

Mike Cunnigham: Economics, Business Studies

Mike Cunnigham studied at Nottingham Trent University where he gained a BA (Hons) in Business Education with Qualified Teacher Status in 1999. He has taught in several school in the Leicester and Nottingham area of the UK. His subjects are IB Economics, IGCSE Business Studies and Key Stage Three ICT. Mr Cunnigham has also been in the RAF and has worked in industry before becoming a teacher. His interests and hobbies are running and football especially watching Newcastle United!

Dr. Mirjana Debevec graduated from The Univeristy of Belgrade with a masters and a doctorate degree. She has worked in academia as a researcher for many years in Belgrade. She has lived in Poland since 1989 where she has been teaching mathematics at international schools before joining the British School in 2000.

Marvin Deahan graduated from The University of Salford, with a degree in English and Modern History, and gained his PGCE at Manchester Metropolitan University. He has experienced a nomadic teaching career, living in Tokyo, Istanbul, Brno (Czech Republic) as well as teaching in various locations and schools around England. Marvin enjoys reading (almost any kind of book), the music of Bruce Springsteen, and has a great love of football, born of a childhood supporting Leeds United.

Magdalena Halska is an EAL teacher and Co-ordinator of the EAL Department at The British School. She graduated from Teacher Training College for ESL (as an EFL teacher) and went on to receive her Masters in English Studies from Warsaw University in 1999 majoring in american literature. Before joining TBS, Mrs Halska taught in a Polish secondary school preparing students for their "Matura" examination. During the time at TBS Mrs Halska completed her Masters in Teaching English as a Second or Other Language (TESOL) at Oxford Brookes University in 2008. Mrs Halska has been working at TBS since 1998.

Mrs Hutchinson studied and completed her Masters Degree in Warsaw, Poland. She has taught sport in schools, in Poland and England.She is married to Chris Hutchinson (also a teacher at TBS) and came to Poland from Witham Hall Prep School in Lincolnshire. Mrs Hutchinson coaches football, basketball and netball girls teams at TBS and is always searching for willing participants!

Sheila Lewandowski was born in UK but educated in Northern Ireland. She returned to London to complete her degree and PGCE. Her early teaching experience was in Staffordshire in the UK, followed by 9 years teaching in the Netherlands before coming to Poland. Mrs Lewandowski is married to fellow teacher, Jorge Lewandowski, and they have two boys.

Jacek Latkowski (Łatkowski in Polish) is a teacher with 24 years of experience at university, college and secondary school levels, including 13 years with the IB programme. He has various academic degrees including a Ph.D. in theoretical physics (he continues his scientific research when the time allows). Dr. Latkowski was born in Poland, educated in Poland and Canada and he has worked in various international schools, for the past 8 years at Bonn International School in Germany. In addition to maintaining high academic standards, he also enjoys participation in extra-curricular life of the school.

Horatiu Pop was born in Bistrita, Romania. He has a BSc in physics and Master Degree in Theoretical Physics from Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca (Romania). Luiza Szachnowska studied French Culture and Literature at University of Sorbonne in Paris. Before working in TBS she taught French in Association d'Amitie Pologne-France in Warsaw.

Miriam Turek-Mellor: Head of Art

|
Ms Turek gained a BA and a PGCE in the United Kingdom. She is an Examiner for Cambridge and the International Baccalaureate. Ms Turek is also an IB Workshop Leader. She is a professional Artist and has exhibited her artwork at numerous galleries including Christies in London. She has extensive experience of theatre performance, singing and dance.Ms Turek enjoys horse riding and sports motorbikes! This will be her eighth year at TBS.

Marta Umińska: English B, ESL

Marta Umińska is an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher, examiner, teacher trainer and coursebook writer. She studied classics and TEFL at Warsaw University and holds a highest level Cambridge ESOL teaching diploma ("DELTA"). Having joined the BSW in 2004, she teaches English B in the IB programme and English as a Second Language at IGCSE, as well as coordinating the Polish state exams in Years 8 and 11. The rest of her time is spent writing for Pearson Longman, with occasional breaks for cycling, walking, reading and movies.

Mr Tonkin completed his BSc Mechanical Engineering at The University of New South Walesand his BA Technical & Further Education at Canberra University. Angharad Waters: SEN, Head of Dept

Angharad Waters studied for a Bachelor of Music and Masters in Music at the University of Wales, Bangor, specialising in Early Music and performance. Ms Waters' teaching certificate was gained in secondary music and researched the role of music with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Having spent time lecturing at university she then specialized in the field of Special Educational Needs working as a music therapist and support teacher for LEA's and in Special Schools. Ms Waters is the Head of Learning Support and will be starting her fourth year at TBS, and hopes to finally pursue her dream of completing a doctorate in Educational Psychology.

Janina Zawadzka graduated from Warsaw University. After teaching in Poland, she went on to teach at Lycee International de Sevres in France. Anna Zygner graduated with a BA in specific learning difficulties. She has a MA in cross cultural studies from the University of Warsaw. She is currently studying for a post graduate diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties. Miss Zygner has been teaching at TBS since 1996 as a learning support teacher.
