It can help parents:

  • Improve the school
  • Get to know each other - whilst taking part in a range of activities
  • Share common concerns
  • Find out more about how the school works
  • Fundraise for extra items or services to enrich our children's education

It can help children:

  • Receive a richer education as a result of items bought by the tbsf
  • Benefit from your increased understanding of the school

It can help teachers:

  • Reach potential volunteers and enthusiasts who may help with school projects

TBSF Calendar of Events

Welcome

On behalf of The Friends of the British School, Warsaw, we would like to welcome you and your child or children to the school community.  Whether you are new to Warsaw or have been here for some time I hope that you will thoroughly enjoy your time in our school community and that your experience of the British School will be a very happy one.

Role of the TBSF

Every teacher and parent or guardian of a child who attends the school is automatically a member of the TBSF.  The TBSF exists as the social and fundraising arm of the school.  We support and enrich school life by assisting in school activities run in conjunction with the curriculum, and organise social events for all.
Its structure currently consists of a main TBSF Committee, which comprises the Principal, the Senior Leadership Team, all Key Stage Coordinators and parents who wish to take an active role in school life.

We look forward to meeting you and your children and hope to see you at school or
at the many TBSF events.

Calendar of Events

During the year a number of social events are planned and organised. These are designed to create a community/educational experience for parents and children, for example quiz nights, carnival parties, school discos and summer and Christmas Fairs. we raise funds for the purchase of items to enhance our children's time at school and to enable extra curricular activities eg, school trips, visiting musicians, prizes for the credit programme, Christmas parties and school plays etc. We also asist children in charitable activities such as non-uniform days, the Christmas Giving Tree which supports the Belska Special School, Dom Dziecka at ul.KorotyƄskiego, Dom Dziecka Pyry, and support for IB students' community service projects.

External Clubs

We are pleased to present you with a collection of Contacts for External Children's Activities. Over the last several months, we were hard at work collecting this information from many sources. The purpose of this is to provide you with a quick reference of some of the many options available to your children for extra curricular activities in Warsaw.
We would like to remind you that the TBSF cannot be held responsible for any errors or omissions. Also, all organisations and individuals listed are independently owned and operated.
We hope you find this information useful.

Class Representatives

Each class has a parent representative (sometimes two share this role) who liaises between the class teacher and the parents. they often organise social events to enable parents to get to know each other and foster a class spirit out of the classroom. See attachment for responsibilities outline. There is an overall Class Representative coordinator for each Key Stage. [A list of the class representatives and Key Stage coordinators can be obtained from the school secretaries at each site]

School Uniform

We encourage parents to label all school uniforms. A British based company called easy2name.com sells a variety of personalised labels for clothing, bags and items such as lunch boxes and will deliver to Poland. Easy2name.com accepts orders by telephone, on-line or by post and the delivery charge is reasonable. More importantly they will give to the British School TBSF 20% of each order placed by a British School parent. When ordering you must mention that you are from the British School in Warsaw, Poland. Samples of the labels along with leaflets can be found at the uniform shops at both sites.

Welcome Co-ordinators

The welcome coordinators are TBSF members with a special role to welcome newcomers to school.  They can put you in touch with your class rep, other newcomers or just answer any of your questions about settling into school life or life in Warsaw generally.

Regular coffee mornings are held for parents new to the school to help them get to know others in the school community and to help those new to Warsaw settle into their new city.  When you arrive at the British School or even before you can phone them as a first point of contact with the TBSF.  Please don?t be shy ? we were all new once and know how it can feel.

School Newsletter

TBSF events are always advertised in the school newsletter that is published each week on Friday by the school.  It is an essential source of information about what is going on in the school.  A copy is sent home with each pupil every Friday during term time.  A slightly abridged version is also available on the school?s website.  The TBSF will also publish a half term newsletter attached to the main school newsletter, detailing social events, projects and where funding has supported the pupils? education.
